Intuition guides my hand......who knew.......I think I'm channelling Jane Seymour! ...and I thought I was more of a Kathleen Turner type. ( that is, of course, until I saw, "californication!)

Living in a small town of ten thousand people can be challenging at times. Everywhere you go you see somebody that you know. Most of the time it's fun, but sometimes..... you just want to..... blend into the landscape.....

greening up our world.....
Celebration! I saw green grass in the ditches yesterday. Green growth in February in the mountains of Canada is unheard of! Heidi ho! It's all because it's the year of the Olympics and we actually want colder weather. Murphy's law reigns! Instead of snow flakes, we get MUD. Sorry, world...but Vancouver is in a rain forest. That's why I moved away. Friggin rain never stops. Just look at the bright side...it's greening up our world.....

let the games begin.......
It's an exciting time here in British Columbia with the Winter Olympics Opening Ceremonies tonight in Vancouver. A good friend attended the dress rehearsal and she said it is an amazing spectacle. Canadians aren't known for being overly patriotic or competative in nature. But the buzz on the street is that this is the year to change all of that. We 're all dressed in red and white and looking good. Welcome world! We live in an absolutely spectacular province and we are pleased to be able to show the world our wonders. Let the games begin.....

lutein really helps your aging eyes...
My 83 year old mother suffers from age related macular degeneration in both of her eyes. This is a genetic condition and one she has warned me will rob me of my eyesight eventually. She has been told to take lutein , an antioxident, carotenoid that is found in green, leafy vegetables and egg yolks. My eyesight has deteriorated over the last few years and I now wear progressive lens. Without my glasses I am as good as blind. I added lutein to my arsenal of vitamins around the beginning of January and have taken 10 mg daily. The other day I put fresh bottles of shampoo and conditioner in the shower without first identifying which was which. Normally I put them in order so I know not to shampoo my hair with conditioner. So, I'm in the shower and realize I haven't discerned the identity of the bottles. Usually I would employ the pinhole trick. Look through a tiny crack in my fist and somehow manage to read the small print. Don't know why that works,.... but it does. I pick up an unidentified bottle and I CAN READ THE WRITING. I almost fell over. I picked up the other bottle and I could read it too. I read every bottle I could find. Yup. I could see them all. Amazing! Lutein not only has huge benefits for our eyes but our skin and cardiovascular health as well. They say that lutein can actually reverse macular degeneration. I'll be eating my green, leafy veggies and taking my dose of lutein daily. Good stuff!

would you like hot pants or a thong?
Thanks to Jennymac my prize of Cosabella undies are enroute from the manufacturer in Miami, Florida and on their way to me in Nelson, B.C., Canada. I was contacted and asked that always difficult question, " Would you like hotpants or a thong.? " That got me thinking.....Hotpants were the rage back in 1969 and I actually had a job where I had to wear them. I worked part time pumping gas at a gas station on the Grandview Highway in Vancouver. The owner was trying something different and hired all girls to man the pumps. The hot pants were modest by today's standards but daring none the less. We created quite a sensation that summer and biz picked right up for him. Love that innovative thinking ....even if he was exploiting a bunch of high school girls. I have never actually worn a thong. I know that everybody does and they are very popular but it's just too, too.....hang your ass out there. I like to keep mine under wraps...so ...hotpants it is! ....I bought a ticket on the 30 million lotto for Friday night. When you're hot...buy lottery tickets.... the fantasy lives....

good grief, I won fancy pants!
I was thrilled this morning to check into my one of favoutite blogs, "let's have a cocktail" and discovered I was the WINNER of some fancy pants and a fancy bra from Cosabella. I rarely win anything. I won a multi breed dog in elementary school that the owners were just trying to get rid of. I was thrilled to bits then too. My gallery won a few awards but they were just ploys to get my advertising. Still....thrilled! I think that's all I have ever won in my whole life. So, fancy pants and bra rate way up there in the big prizes. Thank you Jennymac. Not only do you make me laugh most mornings but now you give me underwear. You see what I did to a favourite bikini...watch for undies in about....two years maybe. Jennymac, I will be toasting you later. "Let's have a cocktail", is one of my favourite sayings!

ghost birch
When we moved into our home twenty years ago we had a row of beautiful birch trees in our back yard. The nasty birch leaf miner eventually killed them off. One by one we had to cut down their huge weathered trunks. We want to replace them with trees that are disease and pest resistant. We need fast growing, shade trees. Ideas?
